The installation compares the present and past cultural activity of Murazzi del Po in Turin through AI processing of audiovisual material. The Murazzi is the area of the Po riverfront: since the 1980s it has been an important cultural center thanks to the activity of the premises that have sprung up in the sheds under its arches. Because of its hidden location, which must be accessed via special stairways, some have likened the Murazzi to an orchestral pit, where "the city, sitting in the stalls of the square, observes the stage of the hill" while the venues spread their sounds without the source being visible. The work is inspired by this suggestion and stages it through two narrative levels: 1) a frontal projection that reproduces the audiovisual environment perceivable from the upper floors, that is, the view of the Turin hills beyond the opposite bank and of the river itself seen from above; 2) a screen in the background, which abstractly renders the places below through the processing of generative algorithms. The projection screen partially hides the one in the background, expressing the concept of an orchestral pit; moreover, the distance between the two screens allows the audience to stand between them, ideally accessing the area of the halls. Thus, a spatial and aesthetic path is recreated through significant images and repertoires, projected into an aleatory creative dimension related to the digital universe.
